So.... Venice, Italy? I can sum up this place in one word : BELLA (beautiful). How did I end up going to this place? Prague didn't work out, so I thought I should visit Italy but still keeping Prague on the list. My parents have been meaning to see Italy and we were planning to go this coming summer but because of my convincing power, we flew 6 months earlier! Milan was the first place that came to my mind when I think of Italy, totally forgotten about Venice. But after this trip, Venice will always have that special place in my heart and memory.
Fortunate enough, I found a hotel right at the heart of Venice. So if you're planning to visit Venice, try as much as possible to book a hotel in Venice and not outside where you still have to take the trains to get to Venice. I mean, you can do that if you want but that also means you still have to travel to Venice instead of just waking up in the morning and just chill. No need to rush to catch the train and deal with all the hassle commuting offers.
Venice is considered as the capital city of romance and sure this is right. You see couples everywhere. There is this tradition in Venice that when couples go on a gondola, the gondola would stop under a bridge and would not move until the couples kiss. You have not visited Venice completely unless you take a gondola ride. Gondola lets you see corners of Venice that you'll never get to see by foot. Serenity and scenery combined. Every corner is so picturesque. We arrived in Venice at night so I did not get to admire Venice. The next morning, I woke up and I remembered that I was in Venice. I looked outside the window and I still remember feeling in awe of what I saw. I couldn't wait to go outside! Pizza, pasta, gelato and Italian coffee are the top things you have to try. The view from the Rialto bridge is just stunning! Also, you have to see San Marco and the piers behind it.
The colourful structures you see are from the island called Burano. It is known for its quirky houses. These houses are actually fishermen houses. I really enjoyed this place. It took us about an hour to get to Burano but it was all worth it.
Venice made me feel like I went back to the 1800s. There's nothing like this place and this is why you have to see Venice.
Love, April.
